Aluminum Insulated Panels
1.Basic Product Information
Aluminum insulated panels, also called Great Wall Sandwich Panel is a metal-faced thermal insulation sandwich panel, composed of an outer aluminum sheet, PUR (Polyurethane) as the core material, and an inner aluminum sheet, which are compounded together.
The aluminum sheets of the Great Wall Sandwich Panel are usually made of high-strength aluminum alloy, with a thickness customizable according to requirements, generally ranging from 0.5mm to 1.0mm, ensuring structural stability and wind pressure resistance.
The surface of the aluminum sheet of the Great Wall Sandwich Panel can be treated with fluorocarbon (PVDF) coating or polyester (PE) coating to enhance weather resistance and UV resistance, and a variety of color options (such as Grey, coffee, etc.) are available to meet the aesthetic needs of different buildings. The PUR core material is produced through a continuous foaming process, which ensures a high-strength bond between PUR and the aluminum sheets, improving the overall compressive performance and long-term stability. The core material has a density range of 40±2kg/m³, providing excellent thermal insulation performance (with a thermal conductivity of less than 0.022W/(m·K)) and good sound insulation effect. This product also meets the Class B2 fire rating and is suitable for building roofs, walls, etc., with the characteristics of thermal insulation, waterproofness and durability, easy installation, and reduced construction costs.

3.Installation Process

| No. | Installation Step | Operation Points |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Preparation | 1. Confirm that the roof frame erection is completed, with a flat and firm surface; 2. Verify the completeness of accessories (including starter strips, self-tapping screws, structural adhesive/glass adhesive, etc.). |
| 2 | Install starter strip | 1. Place the starter strip at the starting position of the frame; 2. Fix both front and rear ends to the frame with self-tapping screws; 3. Ensure the starter strip is horizontal and firmly installed. |
| 3 | Install first panel | 1. Lap the flat end of the panel onto the starter strip; 2. Fix the joint between the panel and the starter strip to the frame with self-tapping screws at both front and rear ends; 3. Check the flatness of the panel and adjust its position. |
| 4 | Install subsequent panels | 1. Apply structural adhesive/glass adhesive evenly in the groove of the first panel; 2. Splice and lock the snap-fit end of the second panel with the first panel; 3. Fix the joint between the two panels to the frame with self-tapping screws at both front and rear ends; 4. Replenish adhesive at the joint to enhance sealing performance; 5. Additional screw holes can be added appropriately to improve waterproof effect. |
| 5 | Install U-shaped cover and finishing | 1. Install matching U-shaped groove fasteners at the adhesive-applied position to cover the joint seam; 2. For the exposed polyurethane part, apply adhesive to the U-shaped groove and then install the edge trim. |
| 6 | Install side edge trims | 1. Select side edge trim strips of corresponding specifications (50mm/30mm) and apply adhesive evenly; 2. Install the edge trim strips according to the corresponding hole positions to cover the exposed polyurethane; 3. Ensure the edge trim strips fit tightly without gaps. |
| 7 | Wall flashing installation (if applicable) | 1. Take out the wall-mounted edge trim and place it at the wall-mounted position according to the card slot; 2. Fix the top of the wall-mounted tile to the wall with self-tapping screws; 3. Apply adhesive at the joint between the tile surface and the wall to ensure waterproof sealing. |
| 8 | Ridge cap installation | 1. After installing the sandwich panels on both sides of the roof, take out the ridge tiles; 2. Align the ridge tiles with the card slot positions on both sides and place them on the top of the roof; 3. Apply adhesive at the joint between the ridge tiles and the roof for capping; 4. Fix with self-tapping screws with even spacing to ensure firm installation without looseness. |
4. Applications
This product also meets the Class B2 fire rating and is applicable to multiple building scenarios (supported by its thermal insulation, waterproof, durable and easy-to-install properties):
Residential Building Roofs: Suitable for roof enclosure of family houses (including villas), with good thermal insulation to reduce indoor temperature fluctuations, and the color-selectable surface matches residential aesthetic styles.
Commercial Centers: Applicable to the exterior walls and roofs of shopping malls, supermarkets, etc. It balances thermal insulation (reducing air-conditioning energy consumption) and decorative effects, while the durable coating adapts to high-traffic public environment use.
Modular/Temporary Buildings: Applied to container houses, construction site prefabricated offices and mobile public service rooms. Its light weight and quick installation shorten the construction cycle of temporary buildings.
Public & Institutional Buildings: Suitable for auxiliary walls/roofs of schools, gymnasiums, hospital outbuildings and community activity centers — the fire-resistant and corrosion-resistant properties meet public building safety standards.
Civil Auxiliary Facilities: Applicable to residential garage roofs, outdoor carports and community utility rooms, with waterproof and weather-resistant properties to ensure long-term stable use.
